I'm trying to connect my MBP to an Orange.fr Livebox in a bar near me. Mine won't connect and we can't get another customer's Air to connect either. All PCs are connecting fine.
I've looked at the settings of the LiveBox (Wifi router) and it is set up as you might expect. No Wifi password, no MAC address filtering. It's IP address is the expected 192.168.1.1, DHCP is switched on and a range of 192.168.1.10 to 50 available. Subnet is 255.255.255.0.
When I try to connect my Mac believes it is connected but the router has given it an IP address outside of the above range - 169.254.196.32 - with a Subnet Mask of 255.255.0.0 there is NO address for the router and I can't get any traffic to pass (email, Skype, Web).
When I ran the Internet Diagnostic tool it says the wifi network requires a password - but I know from looking at its configuration it doesn't - and all the connected PC users prove this.
I've tried to type in addresses manually (taking 192.168.1.49) but that doesn't work either.
My iPhone has the same problem: it sees the network, it connects to it but no traffic passes.
Any suggestions?
